Visitor Visa

  • NZeTA

The New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) is a required travel document for certain visitors and transit passengers from visa waiver countries traveling to or transiting through New Zealand. It's mandatory for those entering New Zealand for short stays or transiting, provided they are from a visa waiver or transit visa waiver country.

To obtain an NZeTA, travelers must apply online or via a mobile application, and it is valid for two years. The process usually completes within 72 hours, but it can vary.

  • VISITOR VISA

A New Zealand Visitor Visa allows individuals to travel to New Zealand for tourism, visiting family and friends, short-term business activities, medical treatment or other prescribed specific reasons.

In most instances, it may allow a stay of up to 6 months at a time, for a total of up to 9 months within an 18-month period.

Some special categories of visitor visas allow for longer periods in New Zealand.

    Key Requirements

    To qualify, applicants must:

    - Show proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay or have an eligible sponsor.

    - Provide evidence of return travel arrangements.

    - Be in good health and character.

    - Intend to meet their visa conditions and to leave New Zealand before the visa expires.

  • VISA WAIVER VISITOR VISA

People from visa waiver countries can visit New Zealand for short periods without first applying for a visa. But they must at least apply for an NZeTA.

  • WORKING HOLIDAY VISA

This visa is for young citizens of certain countries who want to work or study while they holiday in New Zealand.

  • OCCUPATIONAL REGISTRATION VISITOR VISA

You must provide written confirmation from the relevant registration body that you’re eligible for the New Zealand registration process, and have completed any enrolment requirements.
